Our caring pediatric dentists and team understand that some children may feel anxious or fearful about dental procedures, and we want to help make their experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible. That is why we offer pediatric sedation to ensure your child receives the care they need.

There are three types of sedation we provide here at Children’s Crossing Pediatric Dentistry to ease your child’s dental anxiety:

  1. Nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” is a mild sedative that helps your child feel relaxed and at ease. It is administered through a small mask placed over their nose and wears off quickly once the procedure is complete, allowing them to return to their normal activities.
  2. Oral conscious sedation involves giving your child a prescribed medication, usually in liquid form, to help them feel calm. They will remain awake but may not recall much of what happened afterward. It is important to follow the instructions we provide for pre- and post-treatment care.
  3. IV sedation is a stronger form of sedation that is administered through the vein. This type of sedation is commonly used for more complex procedures or for children with severe anxiety. Your child’s vitals will be closely monitored by our experienced dental team throughout the treatment.

We understand you may have concerns about sedation, but we want to assure you that our team is highly trained in administering and monitoring sedation to ensure the safety and well-being of your child. We will take the time to thoroughly explain the sedation process to you and answer any questions you may have.
